At Kea School, Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education provides our children with an engaging, inspirational programme that enables them to be healthy, independent and responsible members of society. It aims to help them understand how they are developing emotionally and socially whilst giving them the tools to be resilient, articulate and freethinking individuals.

We strive for our children to stand out as they arrive at secondary school and aim to empower them to embrace the moral, spiritual and cultural aspects of growing up.  We encourage children to aim high, challenge their own pupil voice and embrace their responsibilities whilst arming them with the skills to seize opportunities; we nurture their enthusiasm and harness their aspirations for their future.

Our intent is to meet the needs of all children including those with special educational needs, those with disabilities, those with special gifts and talents, and those learning English as an additional language (EAL), and we take all reasonable steps to achieve this.

We aim to provide our children with opportunities to learn about rights and responsibilities and appreciate what it means to be a member of a diverse society. Our children are encouraged to develop their sense of self-worth by having a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community through opportunities such as: classroom monitor, supporting local charities, being part of Kea Church community, playground buddy, recycling monitor, school gardener, school groundsman, assembly monitor, Wake and Shake leader, school journalist, librarian and visitor ambassador.

Our high-quality teaching, use of technology and class discussions aim to prepare them for secondary school with an aptitude for dialogue and the upmost respect for themselves and others.

Odd Socks Day
All children and staff were invited to take part in Odd Socks Day to help us launch anti-bullying week. Many fantastic and creative combinations of odd socks were spotted around school! This celebration of unique sock combinations has helped the children to discuss how we are all unique and different - just like everyone's combination of odd socks was unique and different- and that no one should be bullied or made fun of because of how they are different.
Royal National Lifeboat Institute Visit
Years 2-6 received a very informative visit with Sam and Fraser from Perranporth RNLI station during our assembly. The children were given some very important messages about general beach safety, how to cope in the event of a rip tide and the 5 S's of sun safety: Slip, Slop, Slap, Slide, Shade.

Life Skills Workshop
Year 5 enjoyed learning how to stay safe in lots of different situations including: Safety around the home; keeping safe around trains, stations and crossings; internet safety; trading standards (including drug and alcohol awareness) and awareness of electric and sub-stations.
The messages and lessons they instilled will ensure the children keep safe and secure for the rest of their lives.
