At Kea CP School, we are determined that our music curriculum will provide children with an engaging, inspirational musical journey that celebrates their individuality and creativity. Children will learn to sing and to use their voices to compose music on their own and with others. Children will learn that music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity.

We strive to encourage children to have high-aspirations as musicians, and thus increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement within the subject.

We are passionate about providing a rich programme of musical history which includes the works of great composers and musicians.  We intend to provide opportunities for our children to experiment and be successful with current musical technology in our ever-changing technologically advanced society. We value ‘pupil voice’ and we encourage children to listen to, review and evaluate music to form and articulate their personal views whilst appreciating the works of others.

Always inclusive, we want all of our pupils to be able to access our music curriculum at a level appropriate to them and work hard to ensure that every child can be challenged and make progress within music lessons.

We aim to be at the forefront of musical best practice and relate our teaching through the interrelated dimensions of music:  pitch, duration, dynamics, tempo, timbre, texture, structure and appropriate musical notations.

At Kea School we are determined to engage and inspire pupils to share our love, passion and enthusiasm of music so much so that it evolves to be part of the fabric of their lives, rather than just a subject.
